Georgia Nursing Home Abuse

Atlanta, Lawrenceville & Roswell Elderly Abuse Attorneys

As generations of Americans get older, more and more of our elderly are unable to take care of themselves and their affairs. In most situations, family, friends, and social organizations provide the care and guidance that our elders need and deserve. However, and when our elderly loved ones can no longer care for themselves and their friends and family are unable to take care of them, the decision is often made to place him or her in a nursing home or assisted living facility. Families make the best decisions that they can and trust nursing homes and assisted living facilities to provide a professional and appropriate level of care… Unfortunately, and in a growing number of cases, our elderly are being abused--- physically, emotionally and financially--- while under the care of nursing homes or assisted living facilities. In addition, the elderly may be abused or neglected in their own home by hospice employees, visiting nurses or other home-care employees.

Mason & Associates, P.C. recognizes the vulnerability of our elderly and the growing incidence of nursing home neglect and abuse. We are appalled that so many of our elderly are being given inadequate care and in some cases, mistreated and abused by the very nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and caregivers that have been entrusted with their care. Accordingly, Mason & Associates, P.C. represents abused and neglected older people in cases involving nursing homes, assisted living establishments, as well those involving home-care abuse and neglect situations. We are proud to help elderly victims bring wrongdoers to justice.

Nursing home abuse or elderly abuse typically falls into two categories: intentional harm and neglect. The intentional harm includes physical attacks, sexual assaults, emotional abuse and financial abuse. Nursing home neglect or elderly neglect includes failure to provide for basic needs which can result in dehydration, malnutrition, medication overdoses, falls, infections, bedsores, pressure sores, skin ulcers, septicemia, gangrene, and even death.
